Netherlands beats US 2-1 in warmup match

Once again the United States fell flat in Europe , losing to the third-ranked Netherlands 2-1 Wednesday night in the Americans' last match before coach Bob Bradley picks his World Cup roster.

U.S. midfielder Landon Donovan who scarcly touch the ball said "We had some moments in the first half that were OK, but I don't think we put enough pressure on them,". He also added  "It took us too long in the second half before we made some real plays."

Dirk Kuyt  achieved  a penalty kick opportunity  in the 40th minute of the match.Because Bornstein dragged  on Wesley Sneijder's arm in the penalty area. Kuyt made his  kick to the right of goalkeeper Tim Howard. But the goalkeeper jumped on the other way.

Bradley sadly  said,  "we lost our concentration and it was a very bad time to give up a penalty,"

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar took the another nice goal and made it 2-0 in the 73rd minute with a shot that deflected off Bornstein's chest.Bornstein left the already committed  Howard with no chance to stop the ball.

U.S. captain Carlos Bocanegra gave a goal  in the 88th minute, getting his 12th goal in 77 appearances by beating goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg to the top of the 6-yard box.





"They were all standing there, and they looked kind of confused, so I tried to take it as quickly as I could," Beasley said.

Beasley got an opportunity to make it tie in the 90th minute but his free kick from just outside the penalty area was easily grabbed by Stekelenburg .

"Especially as DaMarcus got into the flow of the game more, he was able to make some good runs forward," said Bradley, leading the team on his 52nd birthday. "You started to see his mobility and a little bit of his quickness. He had the confidence of being a threat and put defenders on their heels. Those are good things and, hopefully, they can be built upon."
